Nancy’s Studio

StudioBos, Nancy Bos’s voice studio, is located in Bellevue, Washington; a suburb of Seattle. Nancy helps beginners get on their musical feet as well as working with professionals to improve their technique and intent. Some students sing their own songs, others sing country, musical theater, rock, oldies, classical or folk. The basics are the same: supportive breathing, healthy vocal muscles, control of resonance, applying acting skills, improving music skills.

Biography

Nancy Bos has been teaching private voice lessons since 1995 and has taught at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle. Nancy participated in the NATS Internship Program (2005), an honor given to only 12 teachers each year, and has years of performing behind her including the Seattle Symphony Chorale, several Seattle Ladies Musical Club classical recitals, solo benefit concerts for the IFOPA and lead with rock band Middle Man Bob. She has participated in an idol competition and recorded on a folk cd, is a frequent guest soloist at several churches in the Seattle area and has taken the stage recently in Gilbert and Sullivan productions as well as Grandma Tzietel in Fiddler on the Roof.

Nancy is an international clinician on voice for singer/songwriter conferences. Her formal education includes private study with nine talented teachers and a BA in Music Management from Luther College. It was followed by a 2 year voice teaching mentorship with Dr. Candace Magner while living in New Mexico and now a long-distance mentorship with New Jersey voice teacher, Robert Edwin. Nancy is the Western Washington District Governor for the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), co-chair for the NATS National Committee on private/academic cooperation, member of the Voice Foundation and Secretary for the Northwest Chapter of the Voice Foundation.

Current projects include recording a Christmas CD, teaching belting pedagogy classes to voice and acting teachers and research on the effects of marijuana on the vocal folds and respiratory system.
